Do it for Debbie Day – 3 May 2008

3 May 2008 would have been Debbie’s 53rd birthday.

In her memory, over 170 family, friends and colleagues gathered together on 3 May 2008.  On that day, we distributed 53,000 organ donor registration forms and 26,500 copies of “Debbie’s Story”.

A team of family and friends stamped the 53,000 Organ Donor Registration Forms with a pink stamp, “Do it for Debbie”.

These forms and “Debbie’s Story” were distributed in over 20 suburbs throughout Brisbane, in the Redlands Shire and in regional Queensland in Gladstone, Townsville and Cairns.

We letter box dropped and door knocked, talking to people about “Debbie’s Story” and the issues surrounding organ donation.

We had a stand on the Wynnum waterfront on the day and we spoke with the people who walked the waterfront that day.

In the afternoon, we gathered together on the Wynnum waterfront Debbie loved so much and celebrated the life of someone truly special ….. Debbie

The Australian Organ Donor Register is counting the registration forms received with the “Do it for Debbie” stamp on the forms.   676 organ donor registration forms with “Do it for Debbie” have been received already.

Thank you to those who helped organise “Do it for Debbie Day”, those who letter box dropped and door knocked, those of you who have taken the time to think about organ donation and those of you who have decided to give the gift of life
